There is no such thing as a better library. Depending on your needs, one can stand out from the others, but even in those cases it is subjective.

I had an interesting conversation with a very skilled front-end web developer today. he basically said their firm doesn't use jquery any more given the power of vanilla JavaScript and css keyframes for animation !!

I still say jquery is worth studying given it is still the most popular JavaScript library by far in terms of raw numbers of sites that use it. just wanted to share this observation.

If I had to pick one to do most web work it would be jQuery. jQuery is becoming less popular though because of a up and comer called Vue.js
