HTML API functions

Question

Are the API functions of HTML5 used very often? Or can I just dismiss them, as it is quite hard for me to understand these functions, probably due to my lack of knowledge in CSS and JavaScript. Can anyone give me any advice on this if you have faced the same issue. Thanks!

Yes you can always skip or skim it and come back whenever you're ready or acquire sufficient knowledge to understand it better.
