Why not include a Linux Course?

I think programming goes hand in hand with Linux and newbies would have a far better advantage of starting coding there as they can develop new and better ideas in a versatile environment (not exclusively ofc).

General programming teaching should not be specific to any OS.

@Jan Markus, yep man pages can be quite overwhelming.
i d like a lesson too in shell or bash scripting, for simple automation stuffs, so wouldn't have to rely on python then on my Linux

Linux is _easier_ than Windows because of its simplicity. All it needs is understanding and you're good to go. I only use Linux (Debian specifically) and haven't touched Winfail in years.

However, what good would teaching in Linux be when most people are Windows users -- sadly.

I'd love to see at least C taught from a Linux (or BSD) point of view since the C standard lib is available in Linux manpages. I also believe makefiles are an important topic. Something again that Linux would teach.

I'd love to see shell scripting taught as well since it is relevant to all non-Windows users.

Sadly, there probably just isn't enough knowledge on SL's side. Biggest irony is Windows is mentioned in the C Introduction lesson, but not UNIX.

Anyway, we could keep making threads bemoaning this or simply keep mailing SL or simply accept it and move on.
