Honestly, any hacker who uses their skills for testing the defence of a company or helping someone out rather than hurting other people are the best type of hackers. People like white cap hackers (or whatever other name they're given) are the best type of hackers, and should be the type that everyone strives to be if they want to get into hacking.

White Box hacking is the easiest. You get full access to source so you can see possible entry points. Most companies want these to protect their software from the outside world.

The other two tend toward government sponsored hacking or illegal hacking as it costs much more to do so companies aren't going to pay for it. Governments use a lot of Black Box as they don't know anything about the internals of the target.

Grey Box is sometimes used by companies for testing 3rd party software with their software as you don't always have full access to the source from the vender.
