Do more challenges translate to better coding skills?

Do you think doing more challenges helps/ has helped you in improving your coding skills ? or you feel that at some point challenges becomes a simple memorization of answers that may not necessarily help one to write more and better code? What's your take ?

@MIDAS You're right. In the Challenge Section the quiz or Challenges provided are easily memorized by user after playing many challenges. But The Coding Challenges in the learn section where you test your skills by performing particular assignment/Challenges in the code. It is like a self-assessment. We should practice more and more algorithm based Challenges to improve our skills.

@ Vishal Pal & Jan Markus, yeah if the challenges were more task oriented they'd probably be more useful, they're like simply testing what you already know but doesn't add something new.
