If I've been learning the wrong coding languae for my needs, would it be a bad idea to take a break and learn the correct one?
I've been learning Javascript, which from what I hear I should learn eventually anyway, but for the project I have in mind, I need to learn Python. Would it be a bad idea to take a break from JS for awhile and learn Python?

There is nothing really wrong with taking a break afterall we learn at our own pace and style of training our brains.
You may have to go back over the material later - which in this case you will but as long as you are keeping your mind active even in python lessons you SHOULD be able to pick up where you left off in JavaScript.

I wouldn't say that it's a bad idea per se, but if you are wanting to come back to it eventually, then it would be a good idea to at least practice what you already know about it every once in a while. This would just help you come back to it later on and also help you understand it better.
Also, once you do come back, I would suggest that you probably just scan through the parts you have already gone through, just to kind of refresh your memory and remember some of the material you've already been taught.
Hope this helped! d:

if you need to know something, learn it. But you should also try and keep up your coding skills in other languages that you know so that you don't start forgetting things
