3 % 7 means what is the remainder when 3 divides 7. 3 / 7 = 0 remainder 3. The remainder is 3 so, 3 % 7 = 3

3/7 gives you quotient while 3%7 gives you remainder. As you know 7 doesn't divide 3 so quotient = 0 and remainder = 3
