I've been coding for few years now. I'm not professional, it's more like hobby. However I'm busy with work lately, so I rarely have chance to code.

Let me put this in another context to show how ridiculous it is:

- How can you make money with baking?
- By selling ovens.
- This is not about baking.
- But it makes money.

Give them a sample and they will buy the pie...
Get feedback: but sell it to them in the upgraded version ( premium )
Never give them the full pie especially not without having a new pie ( version II then 3 ) to sell.

And like @Martin said everyone likes free but... in this case scenario limited time or a limited amount of users ( 1000 ) or a release in Beta development.
