Ash Williams The current state of advancement of A.I. seems to negate that hypothesis. Programmers do not understand themselves enough to create a product which is capable of replacing them. It is very much likely that programming will be the last remaining profession, because it is the purest form of general problem-solving.

If you refer to coding, sure, you could be right. But programming is more about telling the computer what to do, rather than bothering about the specfics behind the implemenation. As long as the computers obey their given code, we will need programmers. Only when computers disobey us and take over completely, will programming be obsolete.

People think counselling may be the last remaining profession. Anything humans are good at, but computers are bad at. Although AI counselling will be possible too.
