Great software to become familiar with.

There is so many resources and alternatives , I thought it'd be nice if we could list software, and requirements here.

For example Codeblocks, visual studio, are both an IDE for multiple languages. CB is open source and cross-platform with nightly builds available. Visual Studio is quite a package depending on the version and takes some time to learn commonly used on Microsoft products.

Notepad ++ makes a great text editor, including multiple light and mobile versions.
