Definitely start with a single language. Once you feel you can make a working program that you'd show around, look at as many other languages as you can. Many are very similar in syntax and logics so mastering one will definitely boost your learning of the others. For books, I actually used none. Learned the basic from a friend and then watched YouTube and used apps like SoloLearn.
