How to use JavaScript to mark a multiple choice question (type= radio button and checkbox)?

sorry for the requestion, but its because english is not my native language
if i understood right you want to make one of these two things
1. something that checks a checkbox or radio
2. something that checks if a checkbox or radio is checked
please reply the number of it or please explain your question understandable for a totally sucking-at-english person
