Hi Ana
As I understand it. ECMAScript 6 is the 2015 version of the ECMA262 Standard.
The standards body has an annual cadence of releases for the specification, so we already have had 2016, 2017 editions.
ES6 was a major release, vs more recent releases.
It's important to understand that it takes time for Browser vendors to then subsequently take the standard and implement the language that we all know and love.
So you will hear of JavaScript as the language, which does differ slightly from the standard.
ES6 brought significant changes to address some of the many things requested, including object Syntax to help programmers who come from Class based language get to grips with JavaScript's Prototype inheritance.
Other key features include better support for Functional composition, as well as Asynchronous programming as per Node.JS. and Modules which are having a significant impact on the way Frameworks and Web components are built.....in a positive way.

Mike Choy Thank you very much. In my book from 2015 they're talking about expecting JavaScript 2.0. But now is 2018, so the things changed since then I wonder.... thanks again.

ECMAScript is a general-purpose programming language, standardized by Ecma International according to the document ECMA-262. It is a JavaScript standard meant to ensure the interoperability of Web pages across different Web browsers.
*The full form of ECMA is European Computer Manufacturer's Association.
*ECMAScript 6 or ES6 is also known as ECMAScript 2015.
*Somepeople call it as JavaScript6.
