You should read a book about penetration testing, e.g. "Penetration Testing: A Hands-On Introduction to Hacking" by Georgia Weidman. It's very good. I really recommend it, but it's good to know before start some basics about computers network and Linux/UNIX OS. The book like this will give you very good view on the topic and you will learn some basic tools used by script kiddies.
