Why Node.js is used ?

Recently i saw that most of the IT firms are using Node.js with PhP . Why it is so popular ?

Node.js allows developers to use JavaScript for frontend and backend and there is a lot of libraries in the ecosystem. And npm/yarn makes things really simple
