How to have real progress in coding?

I am asking this because I didn't have the chance to go cs school, and now I am studying alone with hope to become a programmer someday. I found it hard to have projects to do (achievable and realistic) ones. I am not sure how you guys do it, so this is why I am asking your opinion.

I started to do a lot of online courses and solve challenges but it seems like that I will always be behind someone with a school education. I will pursue a master in data analisys in the future but still, I don't feel that is enough. While true I have to work also but I am dedicating my free time to programming.

I will appreciate if you share your experience and hopefully we can all learn something in how to become a programmer.😄

I usually found myself forgetting syntaxes and it is frustrating also. 😌

There will always be someone who is better than you, don't let that keep you down.
To become better there's only one way: find something you like & practice, practice, practice on it.

You’re very likely to always be behind people with college education on programming. And you may always feel that whatever you do isn’t enough. That’s not bad.

By the end of the day you’ll have a job that you need done, and you’ll either do it or not. That’s what matters.

The best thing you can do is keep up with the courses, and write down codes applying everything you learn. There are great edX courses on Python, which are full of jupyter notebooks for you to play with.

Yes, syntax is a thing to forget. Knowing where (and how) to find the information is usually just enough.
