The <span> tag is used to define the string elements of a document. Unlike block elements, such as <table>, <p> or <div>, using the <span> tag, you can select some information within other tags and set your own style for it. For example, inside a paragraph (<p> tag), you can change the color and size of the first letter by adding the start and end tags <span> and defining the text style for it. In order not to describe each time the style inside the tag, you can select the style in an external style sheet, and add a class attribute or an id with the selector name for the tag.
