Why do people want to take credit for my code that I started after giving help?

As I just entered my 70th year, I think I'm allowed to pass on a little wisdom that applies to coding as well as life in general: be generous and be grateful. It's not generous to ask for credit when you help someone with a code. On the other hand, it's generous and grateful to include a short acknowledgement (if it isn't asked for) like "Thanks to AB for suggesting xyz." Just sayin'. 🙂

Who is taking credit for your code? Can you post a link to the copied code or their profile?

that's to bad so many people are more concerned about credit than helping others get better.

I agree with David Ashton. Ask for credits its not very happy but if i get an help from someone at minimum i thanks he/she in code (depends on help type also). Remember dont exist only who help for upvotes/popularity... Exists who help because he like do it and sometimes its good make know you grateful

Someone helped me with code that I started. When I did not allow them to take credit they removed their posts that had helps to finish my code.To my knowledge no one has claimed credit for my code. I don't understand why people who are obviously very capable don't just post alot of code if they want credit. I got my own code that I started on SL to work in eclipse. I may post my code in future.
