First impressions and feedback on the java course and website

Question

First off the captcha is really annoying. It forces you to go through multi stage clicking and even EXPIRES. Oh ok gotta redo it when I'm done typing got it.
Another is it doesn't seem like there are any kind of forums or they are not easy to find. Doesn't need one, just be nice to have some.

This is just my opinion but it feels like the start of the java course is a bit flawed. Some definitions are simply not given. Its kinda like explaining what a Japanese word means in Japanese using another Japanese word that you don't know.

Instance.
"Each object is called an instance of a class."
Huh? Why is this here? I'm sure people who have all ready learned this knows what this means but nobody reading it for the first time does.. that is unless I missed something really obvious.
Object wasn't described yet at all.

Otherwise that's really my only complaint about the java course. The website is nice, provides structured learning and even gives questions at the end of each segment (even if its one simple one, but hey it's free so can't argue with that.)

I hear you completely, but let me just give my two cents on your post.
I'm quite an avid self learner and I've noticed quite a bit about what makes my learning effective.
I come across people who try to build up a full and complete view from the ground up. In my experience this simply isn't possible and is actually not productive. I frequently see questions about "what does public static void main mean" - yes this is confusing but this is what starts a program, just type it and get coding! Accept that it works. Once you get past this, you learn quicker, and because you learn quicker you learn more things, including that point you moved past in the beginning. I can't tell you how much more I started to learn and progress once I started accepting some facts, and then those small fine details from before suddenly become clear. Granted this won't work for everything and you do need a solid foundation but be discerning. I hear what you're saying, but don't get caught up on small points and you'll progress well
