depends on what are looking to make!

if you want to make a 3D/2D style game which you want to put on play or app store then I totally recommend to go for Unity3D. It's a simple game engine and uses C# which means once you build it you can release it for Windows, Mac, iOS , Android and more .

if you just want to build a game for fun and learning to be a better programmer , then try to use Pygame with python or use c/c++
