What Kind Of Jobs Can You Get From Being Able To Program?

Bit of a silly question that I don't really know the answer to but i have the feeling that many other people are asking the same thing.

Honestly, there are a LOT of different things you may find yourself doing. At the core, yes it's all programming, but it can be a drastically different type of programming.

As an example, I use to be in a position that I sat around creating desktop apps and also a lot of server-side programs that run on our intranet. I've done a lot of work in business intelligence and automation also (taking manual processes and writing programs that'll automatically do everything for you). I'm also a game developer and game programming is a beast of its own too. Many people I work with are focused solely on network programming, which is a lot diff than much of what I do on a regular basis.

As you can see, there are many areas that programmers are useful in, especially in todays world of technology. Maybe you want to focus on ethical hacking? Artificial intelligence? Machine learning? etc... Lot of possibilities and they all pay pretty damn good in most countries. :D

Actually u begin as code monkey but in the long run u could go to project management.

When AI will be able to write programs then AI can upgrade itself with unbelievable speed. This can be a problem not only for coders but for all humans. Or maybe it will be heaven for us. Anyway, its not gonna happen very soon.

sql_assassin I think there is a difference beteeen code monkey and programmer. The first one does only a little more than „translating“ a functional specification into code, the second one is able to be creative, to bring something into existence that wasn‘t here before.

I like programming, chemistry and biology. I would like to work as genetic engeneer, because all of the subjects above may be applied in it.

If you know how to programm, there is much more options them "Programmer" and "Data analyser". You just need to think in a wider scale.

Lev Tolstoy Problem is, that programs learn to program too because of machine learning, so coders aren't very safe as well.
