Music App [General Question]

Question

I was just wondering how it is to create a music app where it’s possible to connect an instrument, like a guitar, into the device and you can play on it.
I just need a topic which explain how the app recognizes the guitar. I’ve tried to Google it but I didn’t find anything about it... Any tips or topic’s name? It would be really helpfull.

Recognizes the guitar? You're talking about yousician or something like a guitar tuner?
Every note has its own frequency. Higher pitch of course has higher frequency.

Sometimes we need FFT algorithm which separates multiple frequencies from the one audio sample and we would be able to recognize the notes that the user is playing.
