Is it possible to be an average/good developer with only HTML and JavaScript, without learning/using CSS?
Is it possible to wrote decent/good code and to develop decent/good apps with only HTML and JavaScript, without the help of CSS? What is your experience/opinion?

Why no CSS? It's easier than JavaScript.
With such a wide range of complexity in websites, I think in a bigger team, you can afford to specialize. In a smaller team, you will want to be more nimble / adaptable and retool as the situation warrants. In a project by yourself, you can pick and choose assignments that fit your... limitations (and just avoid stuff with CSS).

I'm simply curious: Is there any alternative to CSS? (I searched online but didn't find anything beyond HTML and JavaScript)

And I think I had a more specific answer to CSS at one point, but I can't seem to remember / pull up that other thread. There used to be alternatives to CSS (before CSS), but CSS is the standard for web browsers and has been for awhile now. I think it is very well structured (in its current form) for what it does. From my experience, it seems to grate on the nerves of back end programmers though. (e. g. I was just talking to someone a couple of days ago who just kind of muttered something about having no types and stalked off. 😁) But let us know if you get stuck on something specific. 👍
