Game Development(Part 2)

Question

First of all, thanks to everyone who answered my first questions.

So, I did have a few more questions.

What kind of things would I need to know to be a game developer?

What tools would I need?

Is it a good idea to jump straight in and start learning about game development or should I practice more with programming in general?

I want to learn, but most sites I find don't explain anything and pretty much just expect me to copy and paste their code. What are some good sites for actually learning about programming? Particularly, game development, but anything works.
