Programming on Mac

Question

Hello! I have very recently gotten into programming, so forgive me if this question is very stupid. What do I need to install if I wish to make programs using C++ on a Mac? By what I need to install I mean, where do I write my code? I have download Visual Studio (free version) but I just don’t get how to use it and there are so many options like “tests”, “.Netcore”, and I was wondering if there is a simpler place I can write and test my code in?
