Does anyone remember sending html4 documents as fancy emails?

Does anyone remember in the days of html4 when you could create an html document, upload it as an attachment and it would be displayed as a fancy email? Is that still possible by uploading the .html file as an attachment, or do you have to copy and paste all the content now? If you do it, how do you do it personally?

If you want send a email with a simple page, you copy the page and paste on Gmail.
