What is the good picture size to use during developing a website?

I want to help me to know the good sizes of the pictures that are used on the websites which are gonna be hosted on the internet and how to do it such that the pictures have that actual size.
For example : 100kbs or 2mbs. what's the minimum good size and the maximum good size?

Normally you could make your images "lighter" with Photoshop option "save for the web".... Avoid to upload images greater than 400k...try to attend a Photoshop tutorial about image resizing that Will be helpfull for you ....greetings from Venezuela
