getting user input

isn't there any better ways than Console.ReadLine() to get a user input? for example in c++ we can use cin for number and cin.getline for string but c# it's just readline and convert and it makes the code to long

Ruby when i read more about C# i realized we can simply define a function named "cin" for example. but i dont know yet if we can overload the >> to make it exactly like C++
