Well, in AAA games C++ is quite common, but I think that the best option is to learn a language that let you know how game programming works. Try some c++ and some unreal engine 4 tutorials (search in youtube).
Another option, if you want to be a indie is learning html, css and javascript, to do html games; or c# and try some unity... However I think the most important part is to learn the logic of programming videogames rather than learning a particular language

If u want to try coding your own game without coding engine first, you are good with C#. Try Unity engine. Otherwise C++ is a need.
