Can it be done?

Just got my first certificate... HTML!! I'm a 30 yr old father of 7 finally getting my I.T. career going by doing everything I can to learn programming on my own...Sucks bc where I live in South Louisiana, they really dont have mentors or classes and I dont have the money or time to go to collage right now sooo i figured better late than never..Can I actually get into Security like Im planning? I'm 20 and I have no formal background in programming, only done it as a hobby (though it is worth mentioning it's been my hobby for almost a decade). I was very lucky with an opportunity and now I'm employed as a programmer. So, yes, it absolutely can be done if you really work at it and keep knocking for opportunities. It took me months of applying and calling and following up, and it really seemed like I would never get what I wanted, but you just have to keep persisting.
