A) ALL ONLINE IS NOT A PROBLEM:

Now, there are a lot of high-ranked Universities offering certificates to masters online.
They secure their exams trough platforms like Coursera, edx, Udacity... But several offers also this opportunity with its owned internal ressources.

B) HOW SL CERTIFICATES CAN BE VALUED:

IBM CEO said she now seeks more skills than diplomas.
The job market , and more the IT job market is now in disruption.
If you associate your free SL certificate with a strong project portfolio, you can get a job to can make your job.

I've seen this question before, but I can't find it.
The main reason they don't give certificates with official value is they'd have a cost. The app relies on ads and pro subscriptions to get revenue, but that isn't enough to pay for official exams/certificates. Perhaps a brand new design is the answer for now.

Yes, that would be great. At the moment the certificates are only showing that you did some quizzes and maybe read something.

How could a test that's done online have any validity? How will they prevent cheating? I think this is a fantasy.

I wouldn't mind having an exam after the completion of a course in order to get the certificate. Can't say anything about what impact it is possibly going to have on it's validity, but at the moment getting certificates can be done almost effortless (you can just browse through the content of the course and look up all (easy as they are) answers to the quizzes in the commentaries). In the current state of things their only purpose is to give the users the sense of accomplishment. At least in this sense passing an exam would surely make the certificates more valuable.

The quiz and assignments can have 25% weightage and the rest 75% will be the final exam.

Sonic some sololearn courses are actually very good for acquiring the basics. I'd even say great considering the fact that it's totally free. The certificates are absolutely superficial though. I personally prefer it being like that than the other way around.

Some companies value both degree and skills
But without skills your degree is not useful
So, the main things is to have the skills but degree is a plus.
