How difficult is it to convert a PSD to a functioning website?
I'm currently trying to get my feet wet in the world of freelance as my knowledge in JavaScript progresses. A couple projects that I have come across are clients seeking someone to convert a PSD to a functioning website. Is the process of doing this difficult? Would you recommend doing it? Any tips when attempting to do this? From what I assume, I'm pretty much going to receive a template created in Photoshop and it will be my responsibility to add HTML for structure then CSS and JS for additional functionality. I'm just not sure if i'm missing something here.

Many people use PSD2HTML.com for this type of work. You can infer a lot from their website regarding the various addons to consider for this service.
It's been a good number of years since I've done my fair share of this type of work and found it a bit tedious and monotonous.
There are several factors to consider for this conversion. Here are some articles that should help understand the process involved:

I've not used external tools for this conversion. But they may be worth reviewing to speed up your workflow:

I hope this helps.

Depends on how complex the website will be. Is it largely static layout with some images and text? Or is it very dynamic pulling data from a database and filling in placeholders would be? A single page can take anywhere from 30 minutes to a full day or more depending on the complexity involved.

I'm really curious about this... Do you start all over and just add pictures or what? Keep us posted.
