Fastest way to get a programming job

Hello everyone

I am a student at university. I don't study programming, I study medicine. Both are my passions but I eventually decided to study medicine at university and study programming on my own, in my free time.

What I now want to know is what steps does one need to take in order to land a programming job as quickly and efficiently as possible. The reason for that is because I am living alone with my father and we have financial difficulties. Therefore, I need to help my father with his work and this makes me miss lectures at university and takes my free time from learning programming and medicine; my 2 major passions. Hence I want to know what steps I need to take in order to make money from programming, so I can support my father, without having to work with him (because his work is tedious and we don't gain much money off of it). I cannot make money off of my medical studies, since I'm not a doctor yet.

The language that I'm currently studying is Python. This is also the language that I know the most. I know very little of programming languages like Java, C, C++, etc. One of the things that I wonder is if I need to learn other languages too. And if so, which one(s)? My main goal is to efficiently make money off of programming so I can support myself and my father. It doesn't matter much to me in what field I will be programming. So to summarize: my main question is: what are the steps that I need to take to be able to efficiently make money off of Python or any other scripting/programming language?

The problem is getting the first programming job.
After the first job you can get a new job easier with networking.

Getting the first job is kind of luck dependent. You can increase you chances by having a noce portfolio website where you show what you have done so far. Put your own hobby projects there for the start.

Next up would be to go to as many mettups as possible to get to know more people in the industry.

And than you need to see how those steps went and proceed from there.
