What is git?

I'm a beginner and I don't know what is git? How can I use that and what's its application? Thanks.

Git is a version control system enabling you to save and easily access previous versions of your code. Combined with a repository like github or bitbucket it also gives you the means to work on a software project as a team. You won't need it when you start out but don't wait too long before you start using it.

There is an introduction on git in the sololearn app under development essentials which should be a good start to get acquainted with it.

I think you should start using it, as soon as your codes gets so complicated that you sometimes think you would like to go back to an earlier version of it.
