Does software for learning code (SL or UDEMY) actually improve skills?

Question

I have been insulted for using sl and udemy as people say it is a waste of time and rather use YouTube videos... Of course I argue with them but it is pointless as they are better coders than me. Any help is appreciated...

I think those who insulted you probably forgotten that people are actually different, there are those who grasps information better through reading, there are those who learn through listening, watching videos etc.

Some of my friends are the video learners and some others are readers, I see no problem with how they learn, despite of what type of skills they learn, so long as they don't use what they learn for something illegal or annoying.

Pardon me if I sounded judgmental, I tend to be when dealing those who are judgmental too. But I think those people who insulted others just because they do things differently are either shallow, too proud of themselves, or the combination of the two.

Oh, and let's not to forget the fact that there are parts of the world where internet access may not be as fast, where people may opt to read opposed to watching videos.

In sololearn you can do discussion, you can learn new things also you can learn from other members this is the good way to learn.

No solo learn is not waste of time I learnt python in sololearn and started code in it .I dint learn python from any books or website. But it depends on how use it .I will get distracted in youtube often with some other video . So sololearn is best for learning programing than youtube because you will not be distracted

Chris C. I agree. If you are disciplined, udemy and SL are very good.
But many people can't give themselves a structure..
For those classes at community high schools eg would be the best.

In short, yes using SL and Udemy improves skills.

You can find informational videos on youtube for free.

But you'll find good material and a community in SL.

Most of the time you'll find better structure and in-depth lessons via UDEMY.

Using a different resource is not a waste

If you're learning on SL or Udemy, you're supporting the instructor or community. And gaining knowledge at the same time.

A good and resourceful coder uses all available resources to improve.
