Are more people getting 0 points for wins in challenges?

Once in a while the scoring gets weird when updating the app. I know that. But today I started getting 0 points for wins in challenges. Is this a bug or are more people getting this? I like challenges, but getting 0, or 1 point for a win while loosing 30, or 35 for a loss in the same challenge just don't make any sense...

tl:dr Welcome to the new era of 0 XP for challenging peeps who are not on par with you.

Methinks there were two purposes: 1) To make users challenge other users of the same level or higher to "improve personal proficiency". 2) To avoid certain users *ahem* to use an alternate account to lose to their main on purpose in order to gain XP. SL is really cracking down on unethical behaviour in challenges. They also fixed a small trick which allows you to halt a challenge in mid progress. The 0 XP act is however, arguable. I might mail (?) the devs to negotiate for at least 1 or 2 XP as min XP gain but I doubt that will bring in any effect.

Well... XP or no XP, I'm accepting challenges (C++). High levels like us can still take the initiative to challenge low levels so that they gain experience. But I guess that's just me. =^= It would be good for more people to express their thoughts on this issue directly through feedback to SL.

@nicolito: well, now I have finally realized that the points on offer per challenge are reckoned on the basis of the opponent's skills in that specific programming language rather than upon his/her overall score, as I had wrongly guessed so far. Thanks for pointing out this aspect. Nevertheless, it is clear that the likelyhood of increasing one's score via the only challenges decreases gradually as you level up.

This possible bug or new gaming rule (hopefully the former option) is getting increasingly discouraging by the hour. While at first the eventuality of getting 0 or 1 xp seemed wisely to occur only when challenging lower level users, now it tends to happen (at least as far as I am concerned) even when I am faced with opponents featuring a higher level than mine. So, at the moment, I don't see any advantage in playing most of the proposals of challenge I receive or try to launch, also considering the large amount of points lost in case of defeat at any rate.

Anyone creating alternate accounts to increase their score kind of misses the hole point of sololearn, as well as challenges. I think they have allready punished themseleves with superior stupidity. Making challenges completely unpleasant for everybody else will hardly make them better people. It is however a problem since noone will want to take on a challenge to anyone lower ranked. How are you then supposed to challenge anyone with a higher rank? I allready sent the devs a suggestion to reconsider the scoring. I am tired of being declined.

Yeah, I noticed. But it will discourage people with more points to take on challenges. I never decline a challenge, but I notice others do so much more frequently now. That can not have been the intentions of the developers, right?

Criso, It's not about the level. It's how m8any xp you have relative to your opponent in the language you are challenging that determines the score. That actually makes sense. It just discourrages from taking on anyone with much less xps. That is a problem 🤔

Welcome to stackexchange! Seriously. This app is not paticularly search friendly. Unless you're a forum freak you tend to miss out on a few threads. The links you post don't even work in the app ...
