Help with replacing argument in function with user input

Question

Hi everyone. I'm trying to write a C++ code that prompts a user to say whether they like animals or not to receive a response. I wanted to do it as an argument with a user's char input (y or n) replacing the function parameter but can't get it to work this way. Any help would be appreciated.
