Why if I lose a challenge that can won less XP will lose more XP?

For example, if I lose a challenge with the XP reward of 7 XP, I lost 24 XP. Did it calculate the opponent's correct answers or some sort of algorithm?

based on your xp vs the other persons xp in that language.
eventually you will only win 1 xp and lose 32
