What are your experiences while studying computer science?

Question

Are there any students of computer science (possibly even from germany)? I would like to hear some of your experiences.
What previous knowledge did you have?
Has there been anything you have expected to be totally different?
Which specialisation did you choose?(if you have already chosen one)

I remember debugging homework for a bunch of newbs who have all kinds of excuses you can ever imagine. Eventually I began to realise that I benefit from it more than they would ever understand.

I never really choose to main CS. I just knew that I have always been able to clean cut whatever thrown at me, so I had no expectations whatsoever regarding the course. I had fair base of knowledge in algebra, calculus, statistics, but it seemed to me that all these were on standby during early stages of programming. If I had to say, I guess I expected a lot more maths than what has been introduced.
