What languages are the best for game development, compatible with most game creating software?

I want to get into making simple game projects once I've gotten a solid foundation of certain languages, so I just want to know, what languages are considered the best for gane programming, and which ones are compatible with most game-making engine out there?

For game development C like languages are leading. If you want to do one yourself check the Unity software for game developers, it should have free version and it uses mainly C# and JAVASCRIPT
