Pathway for cyber security engineer (apprenticeship)

I live in the U.K. and I want to become a cyber security engineer through apprenticeship, the only one available is to become a cyber security technologist, could I still make my way up and if so what codes/ programmes do I need to learn thank you.

I doubt companies open for apprenticeship for this field. Unlike programming or network engineering, companies want a ready to use "product" when it comes to security

What I notice is, when someone did "something" and got publicized (hence the "reputation") then that someone will have a spot a in a list of candidates.

The list isn't usually long, and those companies (if they know each other) share this information, and the candidates' track record. They may recommend, note or even discourage each other of the candidate's service.
