Java?

Question

Is it more useful to learn Java first? I know it depends on what you want to do... Just curious. When I take my software development concepts class I can choose from: Javascript, PHP, Java, & C++

As a beginner myself I found Javascript to be flexible, forgiving, and instantly rewarding when paired with HTML/CSS. Seeing your hard work pay off, immediately, with cool stuff happening in a browser is, well, cool.

On the other hand, I found that Java really helped me grasp object oriented programming concepts, especially encapsulation, and forced me to become a more disciplined developer.
