first thing i would do if it does indeed contain a huge amount of data is to get it out of excel quick smart. Excel is *not* a database. Your problem will most likely resolve itself after this first step.

@sowmi: It is extremely rare that Excel *really* needs to be automated to work with data...and in those cases you'd probably just generate one from the database (or use the database as a data source).

Microsoft gives you SQL Server Express for free, and there's MySQL, MySQL Workbench, etc...
