What capabilities can we perform with ruby?

The reason why i am asking is because i want someone to explain to me about Ruby. it is also not popular like Html, CSS and other popular languages. so that isy query and i hope to get a response

HTML and CSS are both markup languages, purely for website presentation and design. Ruby is an object orientated programming language, which can be used for any number of computation purposes. Ruby is a really good language to learn for someone wishing to get started in programming. It's fairly intuitive, as it reads in plain English and does a lot of the hard work for you with built in methods. Most people learn Ruby in order to take advantage of Ruby on Rails, which is a software framework for creating web applications. Although DevOps tools such as Puppet and Chef also take advantage of the ruby language. It's definitely not as popular as Java, C++, C# etc. but it has a huge community, especially around Rails development.
