Some popular people get upvotes for their code, even if the code is not great.

For me I'll take Find the terimino Sololearn Exception Handling got more votes cuz the code's like a trick. For some who don't read the code before running it might actually think it's really their internet connection and when they figure it out, they're amazed thereby leading to more votes right?

On this platform, the best codes are indicated by more upvotes. So you can find them by going to the code playground, click on hot today and select most popular.

HonFu I see your point. That's why I said "On this platform". They (may/may not) be the best but if the community votes it high, it means they see that as the best.

It's not necessarily the best, though, but the most popular codes, that get the highest upvotes. Big difference.

Koder King™, for about a year, there were fierce connectivity problems on the server side. But whenever stuff didn't work, like anything at all, for example you tried to access a code that was deleted, SoloLearn told you, 'it's your internet'. It's better now, but not completely solved. Anyway, people were annoyed by it, so my 'joke in code' got into 'Hot Today' , some guys linked to it in their feed, it got into 'Trending' ... Later I linked it in a popular joke code assignment which gave another 100 upvotes... So basically, this is a social media phenomenon. And that's what upvotes frequently mean here. Which code will be upvoted most will depend on - how many followers you have - how much you advertise - how good your timing is - how many likestorms you gave - how popular the lang is here - how 'fun' the code is etc. pp. ad libitum. It is just very, very hard to deduce the level of a code just from the upvotes.

Even on this platform, the votings don't necessarily say anything. Look at the two of my linked codes. Which (not saying they're any good) is objectively better? https://code.sololearn.com/cs40Fu39689N/?ref=app https://code.sololearn.com/cf1MjpigY9he/?ref=app
