Rebekah D Luke I have a Chromebook as well! I recommend the Chrome Web extension called Caret-T. To change the file type, all you need to do is save it and put whatever file you want to at the end, such as .html or .css. I am going to be using it for a Beta Nation competition because it has a high quality. I hope this helps! Have fun coding!

The Playground is not just a text editor. It also has the files needed to compile you code in different languages. You won´t be able to compile any code in a text editor.

Fernando Pozzetti im really into html5 and css, im trying to create a website for fun but i havent found any great softwares that work for my chromebook.

A browser like Chrome will run any .html file. You can program HTML/CSS/JavaScript on any text editor (I once coded on regular windows notepad). Change the file extension .txt to .html and open the file with any browser. For any change in the code on any notepad, save the file then refresh the browser to see changes.

A higher quality notepad for big projects I use on Ubuntu is "Visual Studio Code" editor. Perhaps it helps on the future.

I made an Oscars game app for my friends using Notepad++ editor because I wanted to do a quality program on a static page to try to keep it simple. The good thing of a .html file is that you can share it on WhatsApp or any messaging app with your friends and all phones and tablets have a browser that will open that file.

Do you mean projects from your computer? The answer is no.

You can only work with plain code in the Playground. Projects need a framework, or a program that read its code, source files, options, etc.

Chromebooks aren´t really made for devs. You would much better on Linux or Windows.
