It is a separate character ( | "vertical bar"). On an normal US keyboard it's Shift-\, but as I don't know what kind of keyboard you use it might be somewhere else (German keyboards have it at Ctrl-Alt-< for example).
If you really can't find it you can always do the following:
- hold Alt
- enter 1, 2, 4 on the num pad
- release Alt

What keyboard do you use on your phone? I use gboard on my Android, and the vertical bar is accessible by tapping the numeric button twice (along with a bunch of other symbols). There's also Hacker's Keyboard. Check the Google Play Store.
