JavaScript has more uses today than it did before, for example it is now used not only for web interactivity but for real desktop apps like Brackets: http://brackets.io/ Also any programming language you learn will give you an understanding of coding concepts and make it easier to learn other languages, hope this helps!

No, I won't, because JS is made for coding the behaviour of the web. If you wanna learn code in general I would prefer Python.
