BASIC vs Python?

It is often said that Python is one of the easiest programming languages to learn. But how would it compare to BASIC? Is BASIC a better language for people who are new to programming and just want to learn the fundamentals then take on a better, stronger language?

In comparison, BASIC is simpler than python.
but unfortunately BASIC was used in earlier times and now rarely people pick this language in today's time.

Python is much harder than BASIC but it is the most popular and widely used language in today's time.

Well, Python is easy to learn and it is used today but unfortunately it's hard for beginners with no experience with programming.

I don't know much about BASIC. I only know that BASIC is an old programming used in earlier 90s and no one really uses it today.

I advice you that you can start learning C first so that you know the basics of programming language and how it works, after you learned it, then land on python.

Bro, learn python....I have learnt BASIC and I am telling you it's useless now....so learn python which is the easiest language and is also widely used now.

I could see where this comparison is coming from.
They are both very straightforward, and very easy to learn for beginners.

In fact, they used to say that Basic is the closeset language to human language and programming flowcharts, just like the way we see them.

Well, the same thing could be said about Python. But Basic is a thing of the past. The only versions of Basic that are used today are: Visual Basic .Net, Visual Basic for Microsoft Office (Based on VB6 and used only for scripting). And Xojo which is something between VB6 and VB .Net

There is also a Small Basic, which is also very nice. But it is only used for teaching children. And even then, it has many other alternatives that most tutors prefer those alternatives. It cannot be used as a professional programming language. Because it lacks the ability to create stand-alone programs. At least not by itself.

Python is slightly more difficult than most Basic derivatives. But at the same time it is simple enough for most beginners. And it could be used professionally because:

1. It is highly popular everywhere. And it is compatible with all operating systems.

2. It could create standalone programs. Don't get me wrong Python is actually an interpreted language. And not a compiled one! But still it could be easily made in a way that coukd run everywhere. And it is also possible to change the programs to a compiled format with the help of a few other tools.

So in short, Python is much more useful than basic. It is like comparing an abacus and a calculator. Both can do the basic 4 functions perfectly, and both are still used. But Calculator is far more advanced and sometimes more complicated to work with. Abacus is simpler and you never run out of battery or risk a broken LCD. But how many people still used an abacus instead of a calculator? Even if I said 5% it would still be a huge exaggeration.
