not trying to discourage but programming is hard. if it was easy there wouldnt be so many ppl dropping out. those who say it is easy only understand it on the surface level. how long it takes depends on hard work (time) and smart work (good study skills). good luck.

I am doing JS from the past two years and not even find it difficult, it gives me interesting knowledge every time I stuck with it.
I think you should change your mentor.
